16 things I've learnt in 16 years

So, on September 11th I turned 17 and I thought it would be a cool idea to do a couple birthday type posts. I want to do a birthday haul but I still don't have all of my presents from my extended family, so that will go up when I do. This post is going to be a list of things I've learnt in the 16 years that I have lived so far. I'm doing 16 as I've obviously only recently turned 17, so here we go!

1) I've learnt to overcome my insecurities. Over the years, particularly this year, I have really found my self confidence and I've learnt to appreciate myself. By learning to love myself, I have become such a happy person.

2) I've learnt to enjoy the little things. I've found that little things like nature walks and trips to Asda with friends are precious. Moments like those may be small but they are full of memories that you may keep for a long time. I've had some of the funniest moments, going to the shop with friends for chocolate. It's those unexpected moments that make me happy.

3) I will always have something to be insecure about. Like I said in the first one, I have been able to overcome insecurities, however I have also been able to conclude that insecurities will always be there. No matter what, there will always be something you don't like about yourself, no matter how big or small. What is important is to live with them.

4) Not everyone is going to like you. This isn't to be negative, it's just a fact. A few years ago, somebody told me 'you could be the sweetest strawberry in the entire world, but there will still be somebody who doesn't like strawberries'. This is honestly the best way I've heard anyone explain it. Not everyone is going to like you, and that is OK. What is important is to spend time with the people who do.

5) I've found my love for helping people. Particularly this year, I've been trying really hard to help others. Whether it be with homework, summer volunteering, giving advice or words of encouragement on my blog. I love helping other people and it genuinely makes me happy.

6) I'm not good at maths. I passed my exam first time and I worked hard for it.

7) I'm a very independent person. I've found that although I enjoy being with friends and family, I also love being by myself. I spend loads of time in my room after school, simply to unwind. I really like having alone time. I tend to zone out when I'm sitting on my own, on public transport.

8) Chocolate breaks me out

9) I love Bryshere Y Gray

10) I'm a makeup junkie! I am obsessed with buying, doing and wearing makeup. I can go out completely bare faced and still be happy but I just love makeup. If I was rich, I would probably end up being like a YouTube beauty guru with the 9 Alex drawer full of it.

11) High school is nothing like High School musical, Hannah Montana or Mean Girls

12) Highlighter is my signature thing. I would bathe in highlighter if I could! The glow is life changing. (I mean the makeup product by the way, not stationery).

13) Food is everything. Like for real

14) My style is quite smart casual. I actually really love the clothes I wear to sixth form and it made me realise that it's kind of my thing. But as well as the business wear, I love tumblr looking outfits like T-shirt dresses and oversized jumpers, so i guess my style can't be defined.

15) I prefer Facebook over Instagram. I don't even know why but I genuinely use Facebook more than Instagram. I just prefer the posts on Facebook and it taints my self esteem slightly less.

16) Finally, I've learnt that blogging was the best decision I ever made. I adore blogging and I want to continue for a very long time.

Those are 16 things I've learnt in 16 years. I hope that you enjoyed reading!
Have a great day x

  2. I absolutely love your honesty and you are quite wise for a 17 year old. I'm already 29 and barely learned a couple of these. Here's a link to things I learned from my parents: https://youtu.be/_nGZnV0LUW8
