April Round-up

It's the end of another month! This year is seriously flying by. Here is a round-up of April 2019.

This month I had my final lectures of first year. I actually didn't go to the last one because my alarm didn't go off *ugh* but thank God for friends. I was able to get all the information from my course-mates and from blackboard. It's so crazy how quickly the time has gone. I'm literally days away from officially being done. My final assignment is due in a couple of days. In fact, if I work hard enough, I may be able to submit it tomorrow eek. A whole 4 months of summer....I cannot wait!

A S S I G N M E N T S

This month has consisted of writing what seems like a million assignments. It's been super productive for the most part. I started putting my To-Do lists on my Instagram story ( @chelle._babes - plug plug), to hold myself accountable. Honestly it has worked so well for me. I always got assignments done when I wanted to. Just one more to go.

We had our last Hip-Hop class of the season, which is super sad but it was so much fun. I posted a video of the routine on my Instagram. It was great to end the year on such a fun note and I'm really excited for classes to start again in September.

I went to a church conference over the Easter weekend, with my family. It was so lovely. The conference was incredible and the beautiful weather made it even better. We stayed in a hotel for 2 nights and it almost felt like a little getaway to be honest. Maybe it was the weather, but I kind of felt like we had left the country. Any time I get to celebrate with my family is always memorable.

So this is my little April Round-up. A lot of my time was dedicated to resetting or uni work, so this month's post is slightly shorter than usual, however it was a month that was definitely meaningful.

Did you enjoy the Easter weekend? Let me know in the comments

Spring Trends I'm Lovin'

Spring has officially sprung! The weather has been beautiful recently and it inspired me to write this post. It was such a lovely Easter weekend and basking in the heat made me want to write a spring post. So today, I'm going to share a few trends that this season has served us, that I'm lovin'.

Neutral Nails

Most people love pastel nails during the spring but I'm all for neutrals. Nudes and white are my favourite during the spring time. I think it just looks really fresh and pretty. I would also put blush under neutral because it's not bright and on my skin tone looks quite nude.

Yellow

Until this year, I haven't really been so into the yellow trend. These days when I walk into a store or browse online, my eye instantly catches all the yellow outfits. I definitely want to buy some more yellow tops for summer time after seeing so many beautiful pieces on the gram. I have a couple tops but most of them are more autumn vibes and mustard.

Shimmer Blush

I don't usually like wearing blush but recently I have been loving this blush palette from Revolution. I like to mix all four colours together and put it above my contour. It's more of a sheen than glitter, so it looks super natural and radiant. You don't need any highlighter when you use this. I only apply a little bit because I'm not a blusher kind of girl. I much prefer bronzer.

Glossy Lips

I'm a gloss girl every season of the year, but I wanted to mention it anyway. I LOVE lip-gloss in the spring and summer. I have been layering glosses recently and there are a few I want to purchase soon. I like to wear my Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty glow, with my ELF Champagne plumping lipgloss in the centre, or NYX Butter gloss in Madeline and Kiko shade 17.

My gloss wish-list:

  • Fenty Gloss Bomb - Fu$$y
  • NYX Candy Slick Glowy Lip Gloss - Sugar Coated Kiss
  • Kiko 3D Hydra Gloss - Natural Rosewood
  • Kiko 3D Hydra Gloss - Chestnut

Red Lips

If I want to wear some colour in the spring time, I always go for red. When it comes to gloss I am all for pink but pink lipstick doesn't suit me AT ALL. I love a bit of red on my complexion and red lipstick always makes me feel confident. I usually wear it in the evening or if I go for a full face one day. I'm looking for a good red, so if you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments.

So these are some spring beauty/fashion trends I am lovin' this season. Let me know in the comments what trends you are lovin'.

8 Bible Scriptures That Get Me Out A Rut

Sometimes life can throw curve balls at you and we can have bad days. The way I like to handle those days are through prayer and God's word. Today I am sharing with you 8 scriptures that help get me out of a rut or give me some encouragement in time of need.

These scripture are all taken from (NIV)

Philippians 4:13

' I can do all this through him who strengthens me '

Matthew 6:33

' But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well'

Nehemiah 8:10

' Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength '

Psalm 32:7

' You are my hiding-place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance '

1 Peter 5:7

' Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you '

Isaiah 40:29

' He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak '

Philippians 4:6

' Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God '

Jeremiah 29:11

' "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" '

I hope you find some encouragement within these scriptures. Remember that God is constant and will never put you in a situation, or leave you in a situation you cannot handle. Whether you're christian or not, Jesus loves you. If you feel alone, lean on him.

How to manage your time as a student

First year is almost over and it's bittersweet. Although I'm super excited for a long summer, I've been told by so many people that second year is so much more intense than first, so I'm low-key holding onto it for as long as I can. Before I actually started university I didn't realize how busy it can be. I don't know if it was just me being naive but I definitely thought I would be less busy at uni than I was at sixth form. In some ways that is true but time at uni is honestly so different. It's quite strange.

Anyway, I had a lot going on particularly last month, which is what gave me the idea to do this blog post. I thought I would share how I got through a jam packed month and give some advice for anyone at/going to university. This can be applied for any students of any level but I wish I had these tips before I started my degree. Hopefully this will help any freshers starting this year.

Disclaimer: I definitely don't have it all together and I'm in no way saying I have the secret formula for time management. I had my stresses and panics this semester like all students do. It is inevitable to fall behind sometimes and it's perfectly OK. This is just what works for me and hopefully it will work for you too. The best way to find what keeps you organised is through trial and error. Remember that everyone is in the same boat. Don't be afraid to ask for help if things get too much.

March Round-Up

Aaaaand it's done! Woah that was a busy month, but we got through it. Lucky for you guys, there is quite a bit to update you on. It has been an exciting month overall. Let's get straight into it.

This month I competed in my first university dance competitions. I had SO MUCH fun being a part of the competition team this year. We competed at Surrey dance competition on March 3rd and came THIRD PLACE. We were so excited and proud. We worked super hard, so seeing it pay off was pretty damn great. We then competed at Lough-borough dance competition on March 10th. It was such a fantastic experience. We stayed in a hotel near by and went to a super cool social. It was just a bunch of dance circles, battles and laughs. To top it off, we came SECOND PLACE. As you can imagine, everyone was super hype on the minibus back. Honestly competition season really made my uni experience. We laughed so much and I feel like everyone grew even closer just in those couple days. I'm already so excited for next year.

Sticking with the dance theme, the next thing I want to mention is dance committee. We had elections for the 19/20 committee this month. To begin with I said no so many times to putting myself forward. The main reason was fear of failure (something that stops me way too often from taking amazing opportunities). I have only been doing hip-hop for 6 months, so I just didn't think I was capable of having a leadership role quite yet. I was asked by my fellow dance family to just take the leap and eventually I did. It felt like a massive leap at first but the idea started to grow on me, the closer it got to opening the votes. It's so strange to because just a week before I applied, I had totally convinced myself that I wasn't going to do it, yet here we are. So, after trying to convince everyone why I shouldn't go forward for a role, here I am as the new Vice Captain. Um yeah I'm baffled too.
I'm actually really excited for the new challenge. Of course part of me is a little nervous but good nerves. It's more so excitement than anything else. If my team believed in me enough to vote for me, then I need to believe in myself, right? YOU'VE GOT THIS ROCHELLE.

L i t e r a t u r e  R e v i e w

I had my first of MANY (unfortunately) literature reviews due at the beginning of the month. I was actually in Benidorm when the assignment was given. It was great to come back to, as you can imagine. I had a week to do it but still left it until I only had 4 days. Love that for me. Those 4 days were possibly the most stressed I have been since I started uni. I didn't understand what I was actually supposed to do and my lecturer's office hours were fully booked. I kind of had to guess everything. I got it in with about 13 hours to spare which honestly is a miracle so HOORAY. I'm not expecting the best grade considering I rushed it but I don't think I failed which is what is most important. Luckily this piece is only like 30% and I have until May to bunk my grade up with the other 70.

V i s i o n   B o a r d

This was so overdue. I ordered my photos back in January and I wasn't able to pick the prints up until this month. I started making my 2019 vision board as soon as I got home. It was actually really relaxing putting it together. I had music playing and I spent time seeing what looked good, before sticking the photos down. I have already seen how much this board has helped me just this month. I put it up above my bed so I see it when I wake up and when I go to bed. One of the reasons I was even able to write my committee application is because the board reminded me of who I wanted to be by the end of the year. One of the photos on my board says 'Your largest fear carries your greatest growth'. Seeing that everyday reminds me to be take chances and stop letting fear drag me down. All the goals on my board are important to me and seeing them visually encourages me to achieve them.

On March 13th 2019 this blog turned 3 years old. I can't believe it has been 3 years already. Anyone who has a blog, YouTube channel or any kind of online creative outlet understands the joy of seeing your craft grow. To think this very platform started with 0 followers or hits and is now at 21,000 is insane. It's great because I get to look back at the posts and advice I gave when I was just 16. I was literally a baby but I was a pretty wise kid. Sometimes I wish I could talk to my 16-year old self at this age. I don't know if that is weird LOL. Thank you to all of you for reading my posts. I have found so much love for writing over these three years and I appreciate all the support. I can't wait for where Chelle Belle goes in the next three years.

What did you get up to this month? Let me know in the comments.
