Welcome or welcome back! This is the second post within my final year experience series. If you haven't read the first, click here to read. The first post was all about the academic side of my final year. I talked about each module in detail, shared my results and plans for the future. This post will focus on the social side of uni, which has been very different in comparison to previous years due to the pandemic. I saved this post until last because I was still waiting for my results to come through. My second year has been worth 25% of my final degree and I wanted to include what I got. 

For those of you who don't already know, I study BA English Language. It is a 4 year course, however placement year is optional, meaning it can be bunked down to 3 years. I decided to opt out, for many reasons and with the virus, I'm even happier that I didn't do the year abroad like I originally thought about. This is going to be a breakdown of the modules I did and how I found my course this year. If anyone is interested in studying English Language, hopefully this will give you an idea of what it's like.

A massive achievement, especially considering the circumstances. Hopefully my university posts will be a help to you as you start your journey. Finances are a huge part of university life (it's not cheap), but not many people tend to talk about it. For those of you who don't know, I'm from Birmingham and chose to stay here to study. I moved out in first year and lived in student halls. Last year I did a series of posts, sharing my first year of university experience. All of the posts did really well and lots of people said they either related to my experience or were looking forward to having their own once they started university. A few weeks ago I did a poll on my Instagram asking if people would like to read about my second year experience and 100% of the voters said yes. This first post will be focusing on the social side of second year. 

4 Tips For Working From Home

I made my first IGTV video a few weeks ago, sharing some tips for being productive at home. It didn't get many views, which is what I expected, but the advice given was pretty useful if I do say so myself. For that reason, I decided to go back to my comfort zone and share that same advice with my blog readers. For the first couple weeks of self isolating, I found it pretty difficult to study from home. I'm basically a permanent resident in my campus library, so not being able to go there and work took adjusting to. Luckily I found what works for me and I have been able to submit assignments early! University Dos and Don'ts: First Year

A huge congratulations to everyone who got their results yesterday. I hope you got what you wanted and worked hard for. If not, it's not the end of the world! I definitely didn't get what I wanted, but God still had a plan for me. Don't beat yourself up if you didn't get what you expected.

Now that you have your results, the majority of people will know what university they will be attending/if they will be going to university at all. I thought this would be a good time to share some DOS and DON'Ts for your first year.

This advice is based on my own experience. Some of the don'ts are things that I did and learnt weren't the best thing to do, and the dos are things that I did and benefited from. I am definitely not a model student, dishing out advice because I think I'm so great at this uni thing. The advice is there to help you out if you're feeling a bit anxious about your first year. Use it as a guideline, not instruction.
