Ways You Can Support Bloggers

I've been blogging for 3 years now and one reason why I'm still constantly writing, is because of the support I get from my readers. I often get messages from people telling me how much they love a product I reviewed or how some advice helped them. It is a great feeling to know your hard work hasn't been in vain. Unless you have a blog or social media platform of some sort, you may be unaware of the work that goes into maintaining one. I often spend hours a week doing admin bits, writing, finding new ideas etc. I totally understand why full time bloggers need a break sometimes. Without support from others, it wouldn't be as fun or rewarding as it is. I thought I would share some small ways that YOU can support a blogger.

The most obvious way you can show support is by ACTUALLY reading their posts. Bloggers spend time and put effort into creating their content, so the best way to support the final product is by reading them. I always like to dedicate time in my day to read blog posts. I may read 5 shorter posts in the morning or a couple longer posts when I have nothing to do. I usually find posts through Facebook groups, Twitter pages and Bloglovin'. There is so much great content being published everyday, with content for absolutely EVERYONE. I like reading lifestyle, beauty and advice posts, which is why I choose to create that content myself. However there are so many genres and topics you can read and therefore support bloggers.

Another great way to support your favourite bloggers or friends is by sharing their posts. Sharing the link to a blogger's post exposes their page to a wider audience. It doesn't take much time to share a link via social media, but it can make a huge difference to their analytics. Whether it be a specific post link or just their page in general, bloggers can grow their audience when their page reaches a further distance. So get sharing!

This is probably my favourite way to support other bloggers and be supported. Commenting on posts really benefits bloggers in a few ways. The first way is because it contributes to the blogger's engagement. This is what brands will look at if they're thinking of working with you. I have no intention of blogging full time or as a career, however thousands of bloggers have followed this path or aspire to. The best way to help them get there is by engaging. It also helps bloggers out as it will allow them to see what posts do well. Of course you can look at traffic or views, but that doesn't tell you if your readers enjoyed the post. If you SAY you enjoyed it or share some thoughts about it, it can help them to publish more or less of that content. I love reading comments because I also get to know more about my audience. I tend to get more comments on my book reviews, which tells me my audience are bookworms.

I don't have any affiliate links or codes, but I understand the basics of them. Essentially every time a blogger shares a specific link or code and it is used by a reader, the blogger receives a percentage of commission. For example if they publish a beauty haul and share affiliate links, the readers can choose to purchase some of those products through those links. If the reader places an order, the creator receives some commission from that. If you want to support bloggers, you can use these links. By law all bloggers must disclose if their links are affiliate, so you will always know if they will benefit from you using them. If you use a discount code, it's a win-win because you get money off too!

Following a blogger allows you to always see when they post, increasing likeliness of engagement and page views. I find the best way to follow a blogger is through Bloglovin', although you can also follow them directly from their page either through a button or subscribing via email.

Nobody's perfect (I gotta work it, again and agai.....never-mind). As I was saying, nobody's perfect, we all make mistakes. Sometimes bloggers make spelling mistakes, typos and grammar errors. Although I proof read all my posts at least twice before I press publish, sometimes your eyes just don't catch the little faults. There is nothing wrong with commenting or sending a little message to us, letting us know when we make a mistake. I know I wouldn't be offended by it at all. If anything it's SUPER helpful. You can easily edit posts after they go public, and it doesn't take much time. I would rather you let me know I made a typo, so I can fix the problem.

In my opinion, one of the hardest parts of being a blogger is having enough ideas on deck. You always have to have a list of content ideas so that you don't end up with having absolutely nothing to post for weeks. I'm not the most consistent blogger but I always have a list of ideas. Sometimes those ideas are better suited for certain seasons, so it is super important that I update my list regularly. The best way to find ideas is through your readers! They know what they want to read, so of course we're going to listen to you. I appreciate it so much when people message me with suggestions or take part in Instagram polls. I am always doing polls, to see what ideas people prefer. I always see the same people take part in them and I'm grateful for those people.

These are some of the ways you can support bloggers. You don't need to have money to support bloggers. You just need time and love for the people you follow.

Thanks for reading,
Have a great day x

  1. Great suggestions. I LOVE when my readers fire a message my way with a suggestion for an upcoming post. Not only does it get my creative mind flowing (one often leads to many associated topics) but it also helps me see what my readers are enjoying most!
